Words & Music to present "Are Women People?"

On March 11, 2018 at 4 pm, the outstanding vocal quartet Words & Music will present a unique concert featuring Lori's Are Women People?, a cycle for SATB vocal quartet and Piano four hands.
The structure of this concert is quite unique:
Guests are given a program with the texts and extra space to write their thoughts/ questions — and a glass of wine.
Once everybody is seated, Lori will give background about the piece and the texts.
Words & Music will perform the entire cycle.
There will be a break for refreshments and conversation, followed by questions and answers. Specific moments of the piece might also be explored.
Words & Music will then repeat the performance.
Are Women People? was commissioned in 2016 by The Howard Hanson Institute for American Music at The Eastman School of Music and the Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Leadership to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote in New York State. The cycle sets the poetry of Alice Duer Miller, excerpts from a speech by Susan B. Anthony and The 19th Amendment.
The premiere performance took place at Eastman on March 5, 2017. This performance will mark the DC area premiere.
The wonderful performers are soprano Melissa Coombs, mezzo-soprano Kyle Engler, tenor Joseph Regan, baritone Heim and pianists Virginia Sircy and Daniel Lau.
