Are Women People? — The Songs of Lori Laitman to be released on Acis on May 27, 2021

I'm thrilled that my latest CD — Are Women People? – The Songs of Lori Laitman — will be released on the Acis label on May 27, 2021. GRAMMY-nominated producer, GEOFFREY SILVER writes: "Following our previous albums together (Holocaust 1944 and American Composers at Play) Lori's new program really puts her compositional versatility, ingenuity and emotional range on full display. Her use of the historical lens is particularly powerful when songs about social justice and inclusion resonate so clearly today. The album's artwork features matriarchs in the composer's family, adding a personal touch to this national story."

Baritone Shea Owens and Pianist Roxana Ionescu-Beck perform Lori's songs

Baritone Shea Owens and Pianist Roxana Ionescu-Beck performed two of Lori's songs in recital on March 28, 2021 at the Tonhalle St. Gallen in Switzerland:

The Apple Orchard, which sets the poetry of Dana Gioia — written in 2004, as an 80th birthday present for my father-in-law Gershen Rosenblum

and

The Ballad Singer, which sets the poetry of Thomas Hardy — written in 1995 as a gift for my Yale classmate Robert Kennedy.
