In this comic aria from Maya and the Magic Ring, a cat is suddenly given the power of speech by a genie. Third grader Maya hopes the cat will be her playmate, but the cat has other plans. Premiered with Lyric Opera of Kansas City with Alex Smith as the Cat, on March 29, 2025 at the Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS.
