At 7:30 pm on October 10, 2018 at PianoCraft in Gaithersburg, MD (211 Perry Parkway), I will be giving a recital of my music with soprano Maureen McKay, saxophonist Gary Louie and pianist Kirsten Taylor. The concert is a benefit to support researh for Juvenile Diabetes Type 1.
Selections include my two song cycles for voice and saxophone: I Never Saw Another Butterfly, based on poems by children who were imprisoned at the Terezin Concentration Camp and Living in the Body, settings of Minnesota’s current Poet Laureate Joyce Sutphen.
Gary and Kirsten will perform two works for saxophone and piano: Lullaby and Journey and Maureen and I will present my Margaret Atwood cycle, Orange Afternoon Lover, as well as the world premiere of my William Butler Yeats setting, When You Are Old.
